During the last 4 months, a number of sources of information for Post Polio
Syndrome have developed on the Internet.

A newsgroup named alt.support.post-polio was created to help tie together pps
support areas on the Internet and the various commercial online services such as
     Prodigy, AOL, etc.

There is an excellent reference area that can be accessed via WWW or lynx at

     http://www.eskimo.com/~dempt/polio.html

There is also a mailing list listserv that can be joined by sending an e-mail to
listserv@sjuvm.stjohns.edu with a blank subject line and

     sub Polio yourfirstname yourlastname

in the body of the message.

File notes from 07/01/94

This is a  list of recent medical articles related to Post Polio Syndrome. I've
accumulated the list over the last year or so through accesses to Medline via Grateful
Med. The list is representative though not necessarily exhaustive. I was advised that it
would be acceptable to repost this information as long as I deleted the article abstracts,
which I have done. The intent is simply to provide information on PPS to those who
need it.

As far as the list itself is concerned, UI is the Medline number of the article, and I
think the other entries are self explanatory. The articles themselves are available in the
specific journals listed in the SO entry line, and should be available in most medical
libraries. Most of the articles are also available by mail through the Loansome Doc
facility of Grateful Med; abstracts of the articles are available on Medline; information
on Medline etc. is available by Internet gopher at gopher.nlm.nih.gov. I have no
affiliation with any of these entities.

The articles are written by medical professionals using medical terminology, but the
review articles especially are informative for even us 'non medical professional' folk.
Start with one of the review articles and work your way from there.
